| GENERAL INFORMATION |

East Los Angeles Skills Center (ELASC) is a full-time skills center operated by the Los Angeles Unified School District, Division of Adult and Career Education. The center is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)and provides short-term vocational and technical training, and job placement assistance. Industrial, business, English as a Second Language (ESL), Math and English skills remediation, General Education Development (GED) and high school diploma classes are available.

| ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS |
|
Any person 18 years of age or older is eligible for enrollment. Those under 18 must have approval from their parents, home high school and from ELASC.
|

| VOCATIONAL CERTIFICATES |
|
Certificates are awarded upon successful completion of training. All course comptetencies must be met before a certificate is awarded.
|
|
| COUNSELING AND GUIDANCE |
|
All new students are assessed in reading and math to determine placement in appropriate classes. Please call for scheduled times. Students may receive assistance in course credit evaluation, program planning and vocational guidance. Job placement services are available to all students. Bilingual counselors are available.

| WIA (WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT) |
|
Funding is available through WIA to provide free training for those who qualify. See the WIA counselor.

|
| FEE INFORMATION |
|
1. Registration Fee of $30.00 for each semester.
2. Class Material fees varies depending on the class selected.*
3. A $6.00 fee for picture I.D.
ALL FEES ARE PAYABLE AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION.
*Students may also be asked to purchase books and/or supplies.

| REGISTRATION FEE EXEMPTIONS |
|
1. Persons 60 years of age or older.
2. Students receiving verified public assistance (i.e.) GAIN/CalWORK, General Relief (GR), Food Stamps, Unemployment, Social Security Insurance (SSI).
Individuals exempt from paying all fees are:
1. Concurrently enrolled high school students.
2. Persons with disabilities who enroll and qualify for supportive services.
3. Alternative Education Work Center (AEWC) students.
4. ESL students.
If you are eligible for an exemption, inform the registration/counseling staff before beginning the registration process.

| REFUNDS |
|
The registration fee will be refunded only under the following conditions:
1. Class is closed by the Administration.
2. Student withdraws and requests a refund before third class meeting after enrollment.
3. Fee was paid in error.
NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN TO STUDENTS WHO VOLUNTARILY WITHDRAW FROM CLASS AFTER THE THIRD CLASS MEETING.
